A rich, flavoursome and buttery chardonnay whose ripe, primary aromas of grapefruit, white peach and spicy vanilla oak reveal a regional Adelaide Hills hint of custard. Round and generous, it’s rich and butterscotch-like in its youth, delivering mouthfilling fruit and smoky oak before finishing with brisk, tangy acids. A sleeper, and likely to develop considerably more richness over time. For those with a long enough memory, I’m told that the fruit comes from the same sites as the old Wolf Blass White Label Chardonnay.
