Founded by Hubert de Castella in 1862, the history of St Huberts is an epic tale. From the high of winning a Grand Prix at the Paris Exhibition of 1889 to the low of reverting back to grazing and dairy during the 1920's depression, no wonder it's affectionately referred to as the Yarra Valley's living tradition. The modern day St Huberts is flourishing today under Senior Winemaker Greg Jarratt. Blessed with one of the best viticultural sites in the Yarra Valley, Greg is making wines with as much character as the wineries colourful history. Aromas Typical Yarra Valley forest floor aromas amalgamate with black cherries making this a dense Pinot. There is no lolly water here this is serious stuff. Some toasty oak, spices, sandalwood and a hint of stalks make for quite a complex aroma, even some of Grandma’s stewed rhubarb! Flavours and Palate Another great vintage backing up the 2012. Fuller in style than many of the local brethren, the wine remains light and structured. The mouth is kept alive with ripe blood plum and spice leading a carriage or cherry and toast. If you're thinking duck, mushroom, risotto, truffle oil, and this Pinot, you're thinking good things!
