A welcome return to form for this important wine. It slowly unfolds a very closed and deeply layered bouquet of intense small black and red berries, plums and slightly meaty, deep mocha/dark chocolate and cedary oak. Its deeply ripened and sumptuously concentrated palate of dark plums and berries, chocolates and cassis is firmly structured around a supremely fine-grained cut of bony, kernelly tannins. Finer and more elegant than either 1996 or 1998 vintages, without a hint of over-ripeness, it's deep and brooding, with an exceptional cellaring potential. 96 Points/Drink 2022-2032 - Jeremy Oliver The Cabernet answer to Grange is even more intense in terms of both colour and aroma than the Chilean with just the slightest hint of cough-medicine spice overlaying the opulent ripeness and velvety texture with just a hint of some very ripe tannins. You can tell that it shouldn’t really be drunk this early but there is no shortage of ingredients to admire even at this stage. This with its extra sweet vanilla overlay nicely demonstrated American oak. 18 Points/Drink 2012-2025 - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com
