Tucked in the western reaches of the Vallée de la Marne in the Flagot Valley, Festigny may not be widely known, but its vineyards tell a compelling story. With roots dating back to the 1930s, the estate is now led by the charismatic Julien Fournier (fifth generation) and his partner Justine, who are both in their 20's. Despite their youth, they possess a profound understanding of Festigny’s intricate slopes and soils, supported by Julien’s parents, Thierry and Murielle, who remain deeply involved.
Why do we like it?
Pinot Meunier reigns supreme for the family making up 80% of their precious holdings, 50% of which are in and around the village of Festigny itself. Festigny has a hugely complex terroir, with the vineyards surrounding the village in a somewhat mushroom shape with multiple slopes, exposures and a mosaic of soil types. There's a toasty edge to the wine, it's very subtle, and a lot of ripe orchard fruit and a touch of peach as well. It's just a great value Champagne that will beat lot of the big names in the game! Don't miss out!
