NV Schloss Gobelsburg “Tradition Heritage” Cuvée 3 Years Edition 850, Kamptal

Since 1171, when the monks of Zwettl were granted the first vineyards to look after, to these days an incredibly fine wine. We are bringing you one of the oldest wineries in Austria, A fantastic Riesling from Schloss Gobelsburg, a very historical place with centuries under the belt. At the estate organic farming dates back to the monks who until 1995 looked after the vineyards. From 1996 Michael & Eva Moosbrugger took over the management of the property together with Willi & Edwige Bründlmayer from the Bründlmayer super iconic wine. Why do we like it? The concept of this wine dates back to Romantic aromatisation inspired the idea of pure nature and the ‘pure’ taste. Winemakers of the 1800s were making wines with intense aromas. At Gobelsburg, for this wine, racking was practiced regularly (moved from barrel to barrel) to have the wine breathing and developing. This process lasts for about two years until the wine is ready to be bottled. Very unique as you can imagine. It has a bright golden colour. It is very pure, complex, and layered with butter, crushed nuts and ripe stone fruit with a fine white pepper spice. The palate is rich, textural with persistency on the finish.
