Naked Run Hill 5 Clare Valley Shiraz Cabernet 2018 Winery Notes “The Naked Run Hill 5 is a traditional Australian blend of two premium red varieties Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Clare Valley. The Shiraz portion is sourced from Hill 5 at Sevenhill and the Cabernet from a small vineyard at Watervale. Small parcels are fermented in open fermenters with a portion of this wine undertaking natural ferment. The wine is fermented for 11 days on skins then pressed to new and older French oak barriques. After 20 months of maturation, the wine is bottled.” Clare Valley One of the great wine regions of Australia. Known for its boney, citric Rieslings that build flesh with bottle age – a classic Australian style. It can also make some lovely Shiraz and Cabernet. Shiraz/Syrah A bit of a chameleon, Shiraz can change how it looks depending on the terroir and/or winemaker influence. Certain compounds change the chemistry of the wine too. Red wines tend to have higher alcohol. More tannin and more oak flavours compared to other styles of wine.
