Moss Wood - Cabernet Sauvignon - 2013

$205.00
Seriously fine grained. It may seem like a funny thing to mention first-up, but it’s almost the chief characteristic both of this release, and so often of Moss Wood cabernet. Or at least historically so. Oak has also been a key player over the past decade and even at 15%, it’s still plain to see/taste here too. Amazingly enough. It helps make for a seductively textural wine, backed by blackcurrant, boysenberry, black olive and mint. Length is excellent. So too balance, especially in the context that this is still super-young. Suggestions of tobacco are nothing more than that. There is no question that this will age well. 95 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front This is, without doubt, one of the very best in this long and distinguished line. For a wine renowned for its elegance, this is one of the most elegant of them all. Yet the palate has great power and intensity. Bright and brilliant red hues. Beautiful sweet, leafy fruit and silky, fine powdery tannins, all with perfectly weighted oak.Classic red berry and cassis. 98 Points Ray Jordan, The Weekend West “This has an impressive core of fruit, showing blood orange and red currants, blueberry, red plum and more; plenty of spicy, mocha-scented oak too, then chalky notes, and a little leafy edge. The palate has a fine grain, dense and supple; tannins are smooth, even and dense. Long future, ripe and bright, but needs more time. Best from 2021. 96 Points James Suckling
