MMAD Blewitt Springs Grenache 2021

$74.99
MMAD Vineyard is owned by a partnership of four wine professionals, Martin Shaw, Michael Hill Smith MW, Adam Wadewitz and David LeMire MW. In recent years Michael, Martin, Adam, and David have worked together closely on other single vineyard based projects including Tolpuddle Vineyard in Tasmania, and the Shaw + Smith single vineyard wines from Balhannah and Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills. They are thrilled to be collaborating on this exciting single vineyard project in Blewitt Springs. From the first vintage for the MMAD team, and it’s hard to imagine a better season. Lovely mild ripening conditions gave us Grenache with an intense core of red and blue fruit. Serving Temperature - 16 – 18°C Cellaring Potential - Has the concentration and structure to develop fine tertiary characters in bottle over the next 15 years. ABV - 14.0% 97 Points - "Its clarity matches its freshness; 10% whole bunches, 90% whole berry, 20 days in Italian-made tulip-shaped concrete 4-tonne fermenters, matured 15 months in old French puncheons. The highly fragrant blend of cherry and plum drives a long, fine, elegant palate." - James Halliday (The Weekend Australian) OCTOBER 2022 Old vine grenache from Blewitt Springs promises great things and the 2021 MMAD vineyard Grenache delivers in truckloads. The cordial red syrup squeezed over old school snow cones meets fresh cranberry and maraschino cherry. Picked sage and bay leaf then lead to dusty nutmeg and red clay. Tannins are silty and fine and the wine is extremely well integrated for it’s youth. Drink with lamb loin chops that are pink in the middle and charred on the edges. SHANTEH WALE THE WINE PILOT
