Joshua Cooper Wines - Ray-Monde Vineyard Pinot Noir - 2020

From the regenerative farm of Ray-Monde Vineyard comes pinot noir of Joshua Cooper’s bidding. Ray-Monde always puts me in mind of the Rayman video games, for some reason. Scents of ripe cherry, brambles and undergrowth, sweet manure, truffle, old campfire and wet bark. Savoury as. Flavours savoury too, tannins gummy and late to come into play, the wine finishes a bit short and with a sappy and sooty, smoked meat finish. Dark cherry, dark plum flavours before that, even a touch of espresso and clove in the mix. A darker, earthier release, a bit disjointed at present, the quiet smoky spice element a niggle.
