The "color" labels and other whiskies in the core range
The "standard" whisky of the portfolio is the Red Label. It is intended for mixing rather than consuming neat and has no age statement on the label.
The Black Label is aged for 12 years and is widely regarded as a standard bearer for the blended category, and is probably the most familar Johnnie Walker expression.. Depending on the label of Johnnie Walker produced, up to 35 to 40 different malts and grains can contribute to the blend.
A unique position in the portfolio is hed by Green Label. It is a 15-year-od blended malt, with no grain content.
Double Black is a youthful version of the Black Label described by the producers as "spikier". Gold Label Reserve is made from whiskies chosen for their sweet, honied character.
The most exclusive and expensive of the "color" labels is Blue Label, blended for depth of flavor and ultimate smoothness. It is said that only one out of 10,000 casks make the grade.
The Johnnie Walker King George V is produced as a memento to the monarch who granted the first Royal Warrant to the brand in 1934. It draws on some of the rarerst reserve whiskies available to Johnnie Walker. It has a smokiness reflecting a key component from the now-closed Port Ellen distillery on Islay.
