What to expect
- An exciting producer with an excellent range of wines.
- Precise and balanced wine with 50% Chardonnay and Pinots
- 4-5 years of lees and 30% reserve wines
The exceptionally high proportion of Chardonnay (50%), balanced to perfection with Pinot (45% Pinot noir and 5% Pinot meunier) can be thanked for the unique character of this Champagne. More than 25 cru wines from the finest Champagne terroirs in Cotes des Blancs and Montagne de Reims make up the blend, together with 30% of precious reserve wines.
Well balanced and harmonious on the palate, summoning flavours of brioche, together with crunchy cherries and the sun-kissed blush of white peach. Clean on the finish, with all the freshness of just-picked walnuts.
About The House
Champagne Henriot was founded in 1808 and Henriot has remained a family affair since then, which is increasingly rare in Champagne. It’s important to look closely at one particular individual as his achievements define the house today. Joseph Henriot, joined the family business in 1957 and after his father’s untimely death in 1962, he took over the reins and became the energy and entrepreneurial spirit behind the rise and success of the house.
Henriot have their eyes firmly set on what they describe as ‘craftsman luxury’.
They aim to create high quality champagne to a dedicated following of Henriot Champagne lovers. They focus their energies on the chardonnay variety and apart from the brut souverain they do not use pinot meunier anywhere else.
Food suggestion
Keep it simple with this stunning non vintage. Try parmesan pastry puffs which are really easy to create at home.
This is the perfect aperitif champagne so drink it like they do in Champagne and serve it with light hors d'oeuvres especially parmesan pastries.
Reviews
2020 The Drinks Business - Gold Medal - "A delicious Brut NV mixing bright, tangy lemon with some juicy grapefruit, before revealing other appealing, persistent flavours, from roasted nuts to chalk."
Tyson Stelzer - The Champagne Guide 2018-2019 - "Henriot’s entry cuvée lands pre-charged with impressive, toasty bottle age, yet holding admirable vibrancy and energy thanks to its strong Côte des Blancs chardonnay lead. Lemon, red apple and white peach fruit are well progressed into the spectrum of toasty, nutty maturity, culminating in a lively finish of well-defined acid and integrated dosage. A faint hint of dry dustiness interrupts otherwise seamless flow."
