92 Point Rated - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
"The 2005 Syrah Bakers Gully offers fragrant aromas of smoke, bacon, tar, mulberry, and blueberry compote. Perhaps the most forward of the Syrah selections, it can be enjoyed in its youth but should drink well through 2020."

This wine is part of the Clarendon Hills Village wine classification. Young vines are used to produce this energetic and juicy Syrah. Hand-picked from dry vines as young as 10 years old, whole berries are grown and fermented with wild yeasts. This preserves the essence of the grape variety and minimizes bitter tannin extracts. Everything that is pressed is returned to the barrels and bottled on the spot without fining or filtering. 18 months, 60% new narrow grain French oak. 40% blend of oak barrels aged 1-4 years. The barrels are finally handpicked by the winemaking team.
