By Farr - Tout Pres Pinot Noir - 2021

Grown and made by the Farr Family at Bannockburn. The Tout Pres vineyard was planted in 2001 with 7300 vines per hectare. The wine sees 100% whole bunches. The Farrs don’t do things by halves. This is a Pinot Noir with personality. It’s a bit surly – it needs a sleep – but it’s powerful, characterful, structured and long. It shows characters of ash, macerated cherries, pepper, meat and fragrant herbs, though a keen earthen character also has a clear voice throughout. Oak in flavour terms doesn’t rear its head much at all but no doubt it helps with the texture. What is perhaps most impressive here is the finish: the firmness of it, and the push. There’s a certainty to this wine. It will lead you over the hill, when it is ready. 95 Points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
