This wine was grown on Farr’s Cote Vineyard. RP refers to Robyn Pamela who, according to the Farr website, “has been in the vineyard and planted the first vines, driven the tractors, filled barrels and pigeaged at midnight. If we are ever a man down Robyn has always been the first one we have called to fill the void no matter the job, no matter the time of day. You can always count on mum.” This wine is so inherently Farr, and so inherently Pinot Noir, and so inherently Geelong. It’s cherried and spicy, dry and structured, but it’s also ripped with earth, beet, rhubarb and something akin to potpourri-dipped-in-tonic water. It’s more savoury than sweet and yet it’s ripe. Smoked cedar notes are apparent but they are so well meshed with the fruit that you start to second guess whether they’re there at all. All told, this is a beautiful wine, of character. 95 Points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
