Birks Wendouree - Cabernet Sauvignon - 2013

Lighter, and more lithe and sinewy than the Cabernet Malbec, which is interesting. Redcurrant, blackcurrant, aniseed, cedar and an almost mentholated and twiggy top note, along with some floral perfume. Medium to full bodied, very firm grip and vice-like tannin, though they are ripe and almost chamois-like in texture, crisp and sure acidity, fan of tannin on a long redcurrant and black jelly bean laced finish. Very long term, though I suspect the signature Wendouree gum leaf scent will ride high throughout its life. 95 Points Gary Walsh, The Winefront
