Old vines, 50/50 Cabernet/Malbec. Cabernet planted 1920 and 1971, Malbec 1898 and 1920. 12 months in hogsheads (20% new). Executive winemaker Stephen George. pH 3.42, TA 6.4 g/l A slightly reductive note and a touch of iodine. Very distinctive nose. Earthy/mineral and peppery and a little meaty. Restrained fruit profile. Sinewy. Dark and yet fresh and very fine. Elegant yet with great length and power and a slight savouriness on the finish. Fruit is held back. Great wine.
