Lusatia Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

"From the Lusatia Park vineyard planted at Woori Yallock in 1985 and purchased by the De Bortoli family in 2016. The fruit for this wine is from the Lusatia B Block. Fermented in 5t wooden fermenters; 15-20% whole bunches and matured in new and used 228L French casks for 11 months, with a further 3 months to settle in vats before bottling. A very deep ruby red. Densely packed with dark plums, Christmas cake spices and a complex cured meat/umami character. A rich mouthful of dark plummy fruit, with powdery and persistent tannins rounding out a wine that will need another 2 to 3 years before it really hits its straps. 94 points"Phillip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion, Aug 2022
