2015 Antonio Caggiano, “Vigna Macchia dei Goti”, Taurasi

Taurasi can’t be anything else other than Aglianico grape. Taurasi is in fact, one of the 4 DOCG areas of Campania. Out of the 4, Taurasi is certainly the best and most important. Wines are deep, rich and full bodied, with a lot of dark concentrated black fruit, dark chocolate, and a long lingering smoky finish.For the Antonio Caggiano family it’s all about quality, elegance and long-lasting wines. The Aglianico is hand harvested when fully ripe, then is destemmed, crushed and fermented in French oak for 18 months, therefore a wine with plenty baking spice aromas. Cloves and nutmeg from the wood ageing alongside the native structure of the Aglianico give these wines an amazing ability to age ‘forever’.Why do we like it?
