Hofgut Falkenstein - Riesling Ockfener Bockstein Kabinett Alte Reben - 2022

The 2022er Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Kabinett Alte Reben Mia (the reference to this internal cask name is provided in small print on the label after the AP number) is made from fruit harvested on old vines planted in the 1960s and was fermented down to barely fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. Still slightly reductive at first, this needs a few minutes in the glass to reveal complex and fresh nose of minty herbs, herbal tea, spices, white peach, and lime tree. The wine is superbly playful and energetic on the zesty and pure palate. There is lightness as in a fresh mountain water wrapped into beautiful spicy and salty finish. The after-taste is already off-dry to dryish in style rather than fully fruity. This is a grand Kabinett. 94 Points Mosel Fine Wines, No. 66
