2022 Domaine de Bel-Air 'Granits Rose', Fleurie, Beaujolais

Domaine de Bel-Air, owned and operated by Annick & Jean-Marc Lafont since 1985, produces Beaujolais wines of remarkable finesse. It is indeed Jean-Marc’s exemplary work in his well-located vineyards that is the key to these magnificent wines. Fleurie is one of the only 10 villages of Beaujolais that is considered a cru and therefore has its own appellation. Probably one of the prettiest names for an appellation in France too. It produces wines which, it is easy to believe, have a particularly floral perfume. Why do we like it?  ‘Les Granits Rose’ is an exemplary bottle of this part of Beaujolais and it’s easy to see why we love the region and the grape so much when we drink this kind of wines. It is made from a vineyard located on a slope with pink granite soil with vines that are on average 40 years old. It is super seductive, showing notes of fresh cherry, raspberry, fresh lilac and a fine savoury depth.
