Elvio Cogno was a restaurateur and a wine passionate. His family had been making wine for generations, but they never thought they could turn that into an actual job. The wine that the Cogno family began to produce did more than serve diners at their restaurant, it soon distinguished itself as a product of excellence.
From here, the rest is history, Elvio become much more serious about wine making, higher quality, and even set a local standard for wines named after their vineyards. It was a sign of pride and knowledge of the uniqueness of his wines and of the terroir that helped to create them.
Why do we like it?
This wine comes from a vineyard with 1.8 ha, made a 100% from the Barbera grapes at an average of 300m above sea level. It was then fermented in stainless steel with temperature-controlled, automatic pumping-over extracting just the right amount of tannins and colour. It was then aged in Slavonian oak for 12 months and 6 months in bottle before release. A typical Piedmontese wine, well-structured and suitable for ageing. Beautiful fruit blend maintaining the characteristics and typicality of the Barbera. True to Cogno tradition, its principal qualities are its drinkability and freshness. It is a wine with defined character, capable of showing the terroir of the Langhe.
