2021 Bindi 'Darshan' Pinot Noir, Macedon Ranges

$191.00
Michael Dhillon of Bindi is a legend in the wine business, a true gentleman, and one of the most respected winemakers in Australia. The family property was originally purchased in the 1950s, it is a 170 hectares farm of which 7 hectares are planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges.  It is a very cool area with native forests and noticeable mountains with vineyards located between 300 and 800m of altitude. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and sparkling wine are the specialties of the region. Most of the wines are made by family-owned producers who make small amounts of wine of which Bindi is one of the very best!  Why do we like it? The Darshan is a close-planted vineyard of Pinot Noir, a little more than 11,000 vines per hectare! Established in 2014 near the family home, named in memory of Bill Darshan Dhillon who is Michael’s father. The wine delivers a lovely and subtle dark-berry fruit wrapped up in silky tannins. It shows plenty of fragrance and floral notes nicely blended with the gentle spices of the oak.    Grape           Pinot Noir   Country        Australia                         Region          Macedon Ranges                          Vintage         2019
