2021 Bindi 'Block 8' Pinot Noir, Macedon Ranges

$191.00
Michael Dhillon of Bindi is a legend in the wine business, a true gentleman and one of the most respected winemaker in Australia. The family property was originally purchased in the 1950s, it is a 170 hectares farm of which 7 hectares are planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges.  It is a very cool area with native forest and noticeable mountains with vineyards located between 300 and 800m of altitude. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz, and sparkling wine are the specialties of the region. Most of the wines are made by family-owned producers who make small amounts of wine of which Bindi is one of the very best!  Why do we like it? Block 8 is the youngest Pinot block on the property, it was established in 2016 and is one of the close-planted vineyards. It is planted with the greatest mix of clones and it is already showing outstanding quality. The wine has so much energy and life and character, despite coming from young vines, and at such an early stage of its development. Lots of vibrant, pretty, even spicy black raspberry fruit, long with fine-grained tannins, it is outstandingly delicious and already approachable.   Grape           Pinot Noir   Country        Australia                         Region          Macedon Ranges                          Vintage         2021
