A more restrained, and less oak-inflected, nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its array of airy red cherry, dark currant, just turned earth, the sauvage and a dazzling array of spice elements. The mouthfeel of the equally tautly muscular broad-shouldered flavors is strikingly refined thanks to the dense but exceptionally fine-grained tannins shaping the superbly persistent finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate.
