Maison Petit-Roy - Monthelie Rouge 'Les Crays' - 2022

Pinot Noir from 25 year old vines grown on clay and limestone. 100% whole bunch. Three day cold soak, followed by semi-carbonic maceration, with a little punching down afterwards for extraction. Aged in 228L seasoned barrels for 12 months. Settled in tank for a further 5 months. Not fined or filtered. Pungent notes of plums and warm earth, with roses in the background. Plum cake and a little ozone. Light and linear, but with darker fruit profile hinting at blackberries and black plums. Seems more serious and sturdy, but also light at the same time thanks to gentle extraction. Importer Notes
