For over 20 years, Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer have been at the helm of their winery in Gols, near Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, on Austria's eastern border with Hungary, a beautiful part of the world. During this time, they have pushed the limits of Austrian red winemaking, especially with Blaufränkisch. In 2001, the construction of a striking production hall in the heart of the vineyards marked a significant upgrade in both quality and production. Their wines are elegant, well-structured, complex, and incredibly drinkable. From the Pitti blend to their vibrant, additive-free wines, and all the way to the outstanding single-vineyard selections, one thing is clear: Pittnauer is among the most forward-thinking, creative, and talented winemakers in Europe.Why do we like it?
