Hugel Grossi Laue Riesling Alsace 2014

Hugel Grossi Laue is an expression of the great sites of Alsace. Grossi Laue (pronounced "Lie") means great growth and is the equivalent of Grosses Gewachs in Germany or Grand Cru in Burgundy.I first tasted this wine in the cellar door of Hugel in Riquewihr in 2023. It is a wine that is mind-blowingly good. It is essence of Riesling with all of the hallmarks of great Alsace but somehow turned up to a level that transcends. As a group, we were blown away and didn't think Riesling could be any better (spoiler: It did with the next wine).This is a wine for lovers of grand Riesling that will shift your understanding of the grape and the region and will satisfy your palate and your wine brain.Drink this wine from now, but its life-span is open-ended.
